The magnificent concert march Aurum (lat. gold) was written on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the cunductor of the municipal band of Wolfach, in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. The march begins with a light and playful theme. The following lyrical trio provides a contrast, with its nod to Edward Elgar. After a number of key changes the introductory theme returns in canon. Finally, the music heads to a majestic finale, in which the trio theme is played as a splendid baroque chorale.

During World War II, Winston Churchill initiated the formation of Special Force Commando Units that would prove so effective as to change the course of the war. The First Special Service Force, led by their intrepid Colonel, Robert T. Frederick, was perhaps the most famous of these units. Due to their ferocious nature and blackened faces for night raids, the fearful Germans gave them the nickname “The Black Devils.” In 2015 they were awarded the Congressional Gold Medal, the highest honor the U.S. government can bestow. Frederick's Black Devils is a stirring concert march that pays tribute to this legendary unit.

Montreal Citadel, composed in 1934 has proved to be a very popular addition to the repertoire since that time. The march is constructed in a traditional format and contains a ‘full blooded’ opening that was reflective of the extremely large band that the composer was conducting at the time of composition. The lilting melody line on the trio section is sure to get those toes-tapping.
