Satoshi Yagisawa received a commission by the Hiroshima Shinjo Junior & Senior High School, Hiroshima Prefecture, Japan, to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the foundation of the school. The resulting composition is in the composer’s typically bright and lyrical style. The first movement, written as a ceremonial fanfare is followed by a second movement written as a choral based on the school song. Since each movement can also be performed individually, the piece offers a wide range of opportunities for performance. The composer also makes the suggestion that the first movement might be played to open a concert, with the second movement played as an encore. The work was premiered by the Hiroshima Shinjo High School band, directed by Yuuki Fujimoto.
