Commissioned by the North Hertfordshire Wind Band, this lively concert overture was first heard on 7 th March 1992, in St. Alban’s Cathedral. Beginning like the opening credits of a Hollywood movie, the sound of the steam engine bursting into life is followed by a forthright tune, full of pomp and ceremony. Then the train begins to move and the music picks up pace.
