EDRICH SIEBERT (London 1903 - Maidenhead 1984), whose real name was Stanley Smith, was a flautist and a saxophonist with a military band before he got under the spell of the brass instruments and, consequently, of the brassband. During the Second World War he got active again in the military and travelled as a volunteer with a military band which had to pep up the morale of the British troops on the European continent. In this period he wrote quite some music for wind band. After the war he met Harry Mortimer who recorded Siebert's novelties Three Jolly Sailormen and \Polished Brass\"" on the first long-playing made by his All-Star Brassband. This was the beginning of a fine collaboration which enriched the brassband repertoire. MOLENAAR EDITION also published Siebert's \""""""""""""""""""""""Black and White Minstrel Show\""""""""""""""""""""""
